So, one of my roommates, Rebecca, wanted to go to one of the museums in town, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. I decided to go with her for the experience, and it was only 6 Euros to get in for students. It was much smaller than the Prado but still pretty cool. It took us from before the 15th Century through modern art. Some names that I recognized throughout the museum were Goya, Greco, Dalí, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Guardi, Monet, and Van Gogh.
There also was quite a bit of art that I either had trouble understanding or kind of freaked me out. Overall, I understood the Renaissance period and the Dutch paintings from the 17th century. Some that I really did not understand were still life and the Expressionist paintings. Some that freaked me out were the Flemish and Netherlandish paintings. The facial details with their paintings were just strange to me…just saying. But, I definitely feel more cultured after our trip. 🙂
