As promised, this will be the last Lafayette Bucket List post.
For our last weekend in Indiana, Meem and JJ came up to visit us, and we wanted to finally take them to one of our favorite places…the Columbian Park Zoo! It was also a lovely day to be outside, so it was perfect. Before the zoo, we went for lunch at one of my favorites in town, Chumley’s, and they had half priced wings that day, so perfect! Then, ironically as soon as we got to the zoo, it started raining. This was the first time in my life, too, that I literally saw the rain coming towards us. We stepped out of the car, and as we were walking to the entrance, you could see this wall of rain moving towards us. Naturally, being without an umbrella, I turned and ran back to the car. 🙂 Luckily, after a few minutes it passed and we were off to continue our day of fun.
Now, the Columbian Park Zoo is something that I presume a lot of locals enjoy, but Cade and I might be their biggest fans. We had been several times during our four years of living in Lafayette and felt like we had actually formed relationships with the animals. I know, might be a little psycho or childlike, but it brought us a lot of joy, so who cares. So, having this be our last time going, it was a little emotional. There were no tears, but it was just a little solemn. After making our rounds through the zoo and sharing stories with Meem and JJ, we headed to the frozen yogurt shop just across the street.
As Meem and JJ left, we said our final goodbye before moving. Now, this was a quite a bit harder than saying goodbye to the animals, and although it was a sad day of goodbyes, we had to get back to work on getting everything ready for the big move. No time for feelings when you’re getting ready to move across the country! lol.
Next time I’ll start going over this huge process.
