Our last full day in Berlin was our free day that we set aside to do whatever we wanted, so what do we decide to do?…Go to the Berlin Zoo! So, this was how we started our day, going to the zoo to see the German animals and then the Aquarium that was attached to the zoo. We had a really great time of course, just like two five year olds in a zoo. The only thing that sucked was that it rained on and off the entire time we were there, in what seems to be typical German weather. And, if anyone asks, there were some animals at the zoo that I have never seen before. So, yes, German animals are different than American animals. lol.
Later that afternoon, we took the train out to the old Olympic Stadium, which was built by the Nazis when Berlin hosted the Olympics. It was very typical Nazi design, which Cade and I are getting pretty good at spotting…very clean-cut, grey, tall columns, and usually inside there is tons of granite. After that, we rushed off to the Berliner Fernsehturm, which is the famous tv tower. It’s one of the tallest buildings in Europe and has a rotating restaurant on the top. Of course, we had to eat there, even though the prices were high and the portions were small. The view was enough for the cost. The restaurant rotated very slowly, making a full circle once ever 30 minutes or so. It was a really nice way to end our stay in Berlin. We got to see all the things that we had been touring, just from a very high view. 🙂
